Annual Report

The academic year 2020-21, faced a very challenging time which brought the world to a complete halt with the Corona pandemic and with lockdown all over the Nation. This isolation was unique and unprecedented event in our lives. It had become imperative to stay at home and we had to make use of technology for effective teaching learning to happen. We started our online classes for std 9th & 10th in the month of April itself. Thanks to Microsoft Teams which made it possible for us to connect to our students with whatever limited resourses we all had; the school, staff as well as the students. It was a great task to create id/password in teams for each and every child and more difficult was to train the parents to install and start using it. In the beginning we had not opted for real time online teaching for Junior classes. Hence we decided to post the pre recorded sessions which included PPT’s, videos, audios etc. keeping the teaching regular. In the month of May, we started real online classes through Microsoft Teams even for the Nursery classes. A few Training sessions were conducted for Teachers and even the demo videos were sent to the parents for understanding the software. Although in the beginning, it was a challenging task for both teachers and parents to make the juniors sit for the classes in front of their screens, but our efficient and dedicated staff discovered ways to make classes interesting and engaging and carried on successfully. As per our daily routine, we began our sessions with moral education and Yoga classes. Our students responded well to online classes and got their doubts cleared. Since the parents were kept in the loop from time to time, through virtual PT Meets and messages, they were well aware of what the school is trying to do to cope up with this challenge. A good combination of teachers, students and parents kept the teaching learning process progressive.

Readiness for online session:

The school created awareness amongst the parents and students through a video to understand the importance of online teaching learning process during pandemic period. Thus they were ready with the equipments and the platform required for smooth delivery of curriculum. The school created login credentials for each student so that they could get access to the online platform. The credentials were provided through whats app groups.

Commencement of Online session:

A timetable was prepared to conduct the Teaching learning process smoothly. Keeping in mind the problem of siblings, the classes were conducted in different time gaps. The school started with the online sessions in the month of April and May itself.

Attendance:

98-99 % students attended the online sessions. Only 1-2% students who were not able to attend the online session due to network issue or some personal reasons, were supported through offline medium. It was in the form of Videos prepared by the teachers and was sent through whatsapp. They were also provided with hard copies of textbooks as and when lockdown was lifted in the area. Regular meetings were conducted with the parents to understand the effectiveness of online teaching learning process.

Assessment of Learning gaps:

During online session verbal assessment by asking questions was conducted by the teachers. The various tests assigned in the form of Microsoft Quizzes gave an analysis of the performance of the class. The teacher was able to map the learning gaps. Weekly tests and activities were conducted to monitor the teaching learning process . The periodic tests were conducted online to assess whether the learning objectives are achieved or not. With the extend of time, the timely assessments like periodics, Half Yearly exams were conducted. Then somewhere in the month of Feb the school was opened and the Final Examinations were conducted offline. Thus showing the actual and better performances of the students.
